About 300 non-government educators from China and the world attended the meeting. Officials from the Ministry of Education of China as well as a number of respected educators gave their speeches to show support towards the development of non-government education in China.

LCC received the “Top Ten Most Influential Education Institution Award” at the Ceremony. Ms. Luk Chan was awarded as “Top Ten Outstanding Non-government Educator”. In 2010, our two vice-principals, Ms. Chan Pak-man and Ms. Gao Hong, were awarded as “Outstanding Non-Governmental Educators”. In this year, our deputy editor-in-chief, Ms. Qian Xiao-fu, also received such honour. It is encouraging that LCC’s effort in promoting Chinese language education has caught people’s attention.

Ms. Luk Chan was invited to present a speech on the first day of the Sharing Session. She pointed out that LCC, which has established in Hong Kong for 20 years, is committed to the development of Chinese foundation education at the international level, educational research and management, as well as teacher training. All teachers from LCC have devoted themselves wholeheartedly to education for the benefit of our students. No matter how many difficulties and misunderstandings, LCC holds on the motto “Rigour in Learning; Seriousness in Teaching”, and takes care of every student’s needs. A lot of students have found Chinese interesting even though they might not like it at first. LCC will continue to provide opportunities for all parents and students to explore Chinese language and culture.

Ms. Luk also said that students’ improvement is directly related to their active participation in classrooms and beyond. Moreover, parents must take note that they and society exert strong influence over children. In the 21st century, it is the time for us to re-consider our own language and culture in relation to the world, re-examine the importance of quality education and positive attitudes towards life, and re-think about the meaning of education in the long run.

Ms. Luk’s speech drew loud applause from the audience. LCC highly values any exchange or collaboration opportunities with other educational institutions in future.
