In this bright and beautiful summer, LCC took part in The 10th Parents' Journal Baby, Children & Family Expo between 20-22 May 2011 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Our booth used red and white as main colours. “Red” is often associated with elegance in Eastern culture while “white” represents purity in the West. This design indeed reveals our educational spirit – merging the best of East and West. Our goal is summed up in the slogan – “Learn Chinese at an Early Age, Read the World in a Different Way”.

In our booth there was an interactive zone called “Hands-on Chinese” for children to play games. “Hands-on Chinese” will also be our new teaching approach used in this year’s summer courses. This approach not only consists of traditional poetry reading and singing, but combines audio-visual aids and bilingual teaching. Children will learn to type Chinese by pinyin input method and translate stories into Chinese from English.

Next to “Hands-on Chinese” was a zone called “Fun in Chinese Idioms”. We integrate Chinese idioms into games for children’s easy learning. Moreover, during the three-day exhibition, we brought along with four newly-published books: Enlightenment of Rhythm, Liweng Rhyme-Matching, Collection of Classical Chinese Poems, and Green Lawn: Students’ Essays Collection. The first three books are specially designed for children and teenagers in Hong Kong, with both traditional and simplified Chinese characters printed on all pages. Putonghua pinyin is also included for the purpose of reading aloud. The fourth book consists of our students’ essays from The World Chinese Students Writing Competition, which has been carried out for 11 years. We are greatly impressed that some students, who could not even write a complete sentence in the beginning, have devoted so much effort to improving their Chinese writing. We firmly believe that the seeds we sow today will reap the fruit of success in future.

Although the Parents’ Journal Expo ended on 22 May, our passion towards education keeps going on. We welcome all students and parents to visit us in Tsim Sha Tsui and Causeway Bay. There is a briefing session on every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. We offer a free Chinese language assessment test for all students. If you would like to know more about our education, don’t hesitate to contact us and reserve a seat. Join us now and learn Chinese for fun!
